Our History

Norwich Lads History

Founded by John Henry Dain in 1918, Norwich Lads Club has become Norwich’s longest running boxing club. Due to his hard work in establishing the club, we have now passed over 10,000 members through the club.

With over 100 years under our belt, we have also come across a degree of mystery with the club. We were recently contacted to be made aware of a medal circulating from the Lads Club, dated in 1931 and reading ‘From 7000 lads to Helen, with thanks’. While we have no further information about Helen or why she had a medal dedicated to her, it is incredible that just 13 years after its establishment, Norwich Lads Club had 7000 members!
